Encotech Awarded 2011 Asian American Business of the Year

September 10, 2011

Encotech was honored to receive the 2011 Asian Business of the Year Award at this year's Texas Business Symposium & Gala.  Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell presented the award on behalf of the Asian American Resource Center (AARC) and Network of Asian American Organizations (NAAO). "This award is being presented, not only due to the success of the company, but also to recognize the significant support given to the community year after year," the Mayor said.

In his speech, Encotech President Ali Khataw thanked his family and engineering staff for their hard work and support.  The award ceremony took place during the Texas Business Symposium & Gala, a day-long conference benefiting construction of the new Asian American Resource Center, which is currently in design.  The daytime Symposium featured programming on topics such as energy, transportation, and technology - with speakers such as Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell, San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro, and Austin Energy General Manager Larry Weis. The evening Gala featured a keynote address by Jamie Amelio of Caring for Cambodia, as well as a silent auction and presentation of community awards.
