The Griffin School is a small but growing private college preparatory school in Austin, Texas. It currently has 67 students in grades 9-12 but anticipates steady growth. In anticipation of this growth, the school was in need of a new two-story facility.
Encotech was retained to provide mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) engineering services for the new 5,300 SF two-story private high school. Encotech coordinated with the architect to review design development/construction drawings and advise the architect on MEP issues, and requirements. Encotech also provided an opinion of the probable cost of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems based on a parametric square footage analysis.
The plumbing design included: water and wastewater piping load analysis, sizing, layout and riser diagrams, gas piping load analysis, sizing, layout and riser diagrams and condensate piping design.
The HVAC design included: zonal load analysis, sizing and scheduling of HVAC equipment based on zoning, the design of ductwork and design and location of air registers, grills, and temperature sensors.
The electrical design included: lighting and power outlet layout and circuiting, circuit design for special electrical equipment, lighting calculations to confirm TOADS Standards Compliance and load analysis, service riser, distribution panels and wire sizing. The design team provided coordination with the Electric Utility Company on-site lighting and site electrical.
