Unity Church of the Hills

Austin, Texas

Unity Church of the Hills’ slogan is “A Church that Love is Building.”  And, Encotech is fortunate to have participated in the love.

Encotech provided Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering services for the expansion of this 20,000 square foot church accommodating a congregation of 500 with expansion capability to 1,000.  In addition to the large sanctuary, the building includes office spaces and an education center.

Encotech’s structural designers integrated an exposed tongue-and-groove wood deck with the sanctuary’s ornate interior architecture, and designed the church with pre-engineered, glue-laminated bents that converged onto a circular compression ring made of structural steel. The timber structure was left exposed to highlight the aesthetic steel connections.

Encotech’s engineers designed beautifully exposed trusses at the entry foyer using timber and steel rods, and provided the structural design for the sanctuary’s long span circular entry arch using segmented steel pipes.
